The use of asbestos lumber or other roofing containing asbestos was banned in Italy since 1992 due to its highly detrimental effect on health and the high level of environmental pollution it generates.
However, despite the well-known highly damaging effects, the process of asbestos abatement in Italy has not yet been completed due to the high cost involved in all the related steps.
There are very specific and essential procedures to be followed that provide a series of safeguarding measures for the health of professionals who carry out the abatement operations as well as all the people that are within a certain distance from the place affected by the removal.
The Feed-in-tariff includes a higher incentive of 5 cents per Euro, for each kWh generated, for those who decide to permanently remove asbestos roofing and replace it with other material in compliance with regulations and install a photovoltaic system.
Thanks to the incentives of the Feed-in-tariff you can recoup the costs incurred for asbestos removal and disposal and the consequent restoration of the roof, as well as those relating to the installation of the photovoltaic system.
All of this long before the expiry of the 20-year incentive period: this means that if you recoup your costs in 15 years, in the last 5 years all the incentive you will receive can be considered as a further gain, net of any expense!
So why not take advantage from the replacement of asbestos roofs and enjoy many benefits: environmental, health, energy consumption, and why not, for your pocketbooks!
